Marcus Browne has joined Middlesbrough Football Club on a three-year deal from West Ham United.
Marcus joined West Ham at the age of eight and progressed through the Academy set-up at the Club. He played an integral part within the West Ham Academy, captaining both the under 18s and under 23s sides.
Marcus consistently challenged for a place in the Hammer’s First Team side, making his senior debut in August 2016 in a Europa League clash against Astra Giurgiu.
He gained experience on loan at sides including Wigan Athletic, where he played at Old Trafford in an FA Cup tie against Manchester United and Oxford United.
Marcus spent the 2018/19 season with the U’s making 44 appearances, providing 9 goals and 5 assists.
He now makes the move to Jonathan Woodgate’s side in the Championship and played his first minutes for Boro on Sunday in a pre-season friendly against St. Etienne. He made an instant impact with fans already praising his pressing, direct style of play.
Marcus shared his thanks with the New Era team following his move, saying: “Massive thanks to Russell and the New Era team for helping me every step of the way and making this move possible. Great company, great bunch of people”.
We thank Marcus for his kind words and look forward to monitoring his progress in the coming season. We wish him all the best for his career at Middlesbrough.
